rikka «Planacide» – highly effective disinfectant against planarians – flatworm of Turbellaria class.
Also actively fights against gill worms (dactylogyrus); skin worms (gyrodactylus) and tapeworms (Cestoda) that affect aquarium fish in fresh and seawater.
Symptoms of gill worm infection are: rapid respiration, rubbing against decoration and equipment, flashing combined with apathetic "hanging".
Upon infection with skin worm skin bruises can also be observed. Significant exhaustion at normal appetite indicates infection with tapeworm.
Infection with gill worm in big fish can be diagnosed with following method:
catch the supposedly infected fish, put onto a wet blanket and carefully operculum using tweezers.
White worms can be easily observed under 10 times magnification using magnifying glass.
