Contains copper (Cu)!rikka “Paracide” is a highly effective remedy against “velvet disease”, which affects ornamental fish in fresh and marine water when infected with Oodinium parasites. It also works against parasites that cause skin clouding (Piscinoodinium pillularis in fresh water, Amyloodinium ocellatum in marine water), Chilodonella, Ichthyobodo (Costia), Cryptocaryon and others.Visible signs: a velvety coating on the skin that may be yellowish, whitish, grey or brown, and/or barely visible tiny dots, much smaller than with ich. With severe gill damage, breathing becomes much faster and the gills flare out.Infection with these and other parasites may also cause non-specific symptoms: rubbing against decorations and equipment, clamped fins, refusing food, reduced activity, apathy, darkened colouring.Contraindications: none known.Warning: freshwater invertebrates (shrimp, small crustaceans, etc.) do NOT tolerate the product. Remove them from the aquarium before treatment.Scaleless fish (loaches and catfish) and weakened fish may be sensitive to the product. In this case, start with half a dose and increase it gradually.Side effects: none observed. In case of overdose or in weakened fish, apathy or very rapid breathing may rarely appear within 10 minutes after dosing. In this case, change 50% of the water.If your fish show any other side effects, please let us know.Directions: during treatment, remove activated carbon from the aquarium and switch off the UV steriliser and CO2 system; in marine tanks also switch off the protein skimmer and ozoniser. Aerate the water vigorously throughout the treatment.Always add “Paracide” in the morning and watch how the fish react.Dosage:Day 1: 10 ml (300 drops) per 100 l of water.Day 2: check the copper level with a copper test. If copper is below 0.05 mg/l, add another 10 ml (300 drops) per 100 l. If copper is 0.1-0.15 mg/l, add another 5 ml (150 drops) per 100 l.Day 3: as on day 2.Day 5: as on day 2.Day 10: change at least 70% of the water and siphon the substrate thoroughly.In soft fresh water with carbonate hardness below 4° KH, use only 75% of the stated dose.Note: in an aquarium, copper tends to turn into insoluble compounds, so during treatment check daily with a copper test that the effective concentration of 0.3 mg/l is maintained, and add an extra dose if needed. Each dose of “Paracide” (10 ml / 300 drops) raises copper in 100 l of aquarium water by 0.3 mg/l.Because copper becomes insoluble, we strongly recommend treating in a quarantine tank whenever possible. This reliably prevents uncontrolled copper contamination of the main aquarium.Since some Oodinium pathogens in fresh water also contain photosynthetic pigments, darkening the aquarium for 3-4 days can make the treatment more effective.Feeding during treatment: do not feed the fish for the first three days. From day 4, resume feeding with smaller portions.Filtration during treatment: biologically very active filters almost completely neutralise the medicine, so before treatment clean the filter thoroughly, or better replace the filter media, and siphon the substrate.If you forget to add a dose, add it as soon as possible and then continue as described above.After treatment: change about 70% of the aquarium water, siphoning the substrate thoroughly to remove copper sediment. Then add one dose of rikka “Aqua Panthenol” daily for one week (freshwater only) to strengthen the fish's immune system and help them recover from parasite damage. Adding rikka “Aqua Start” nitrifying bacteria helps re-establish beneficial bacteria in the filter.During treatment and in the first days after it, check ammonium (ammonia) and nitrite daily. If nitrite is above 0.5 mg/l, immediately change 50% of the water and add rikka “Aqua Start” live bacteria cultures.• Keep out of reach of children!• Do not use to treat fish intended for human consumption.• Do not use after the expiry date.• Protect from direct sunlight; store in the original packaging at 0-25°C.• Do not use together with other medicines.• Water conditioners neutralise the effect of the medicine.Shelf life: 12 monthsVolume: 100 ml.Manufactured in accordance with TU U 20.5-3348315741-001:2015.Not a veterinary medicine.
